In Need of Limits questions the effects of western society's complacency towards survival.

Our incapacity for restraint, alongside technological success, is ensuring the collapse of the natural infrastructure of the oceans.

By 2028, offshore aqua-culture, clean energy devices and marine protected zones have privatised the oceans. Pharmacological research companies, protecting access to marine resources, subsidise the government's North Sea Patrol Facility on New Albion. This harbours enforcement patrol vessels whilst developing marine biotechnology, preserving and simultaneously further bureaucratising the North Sea. The facility becomes the gateway to open water and is dedicated to the appearance of progress and development.

At current estimates, by 2048 no wild fish will remain in the sea.

As we continue to ignore our interdependency pharmacological advances are demonstrating that we destroy a valuable commodity.
By 2028, offshore aquaculture, clean energy devices and marine protected zones have privatised the oceans.
Albion, in the New Thames Estuary, becomes the base for the government's North Sea Patrol Facility.
Albion lies between land and landscaped sea.
The facility is suspended between land and sea.
Leading pharmaceutical companies protecting precious access to marine resources subsidise the facility.
The pharmaceutical industry develops Marine Biotechnology alongside the enforcement harbour.
The facility makes publicly visible the effort needed to maintain the delicate balance between administration and enforcement.
The UK is fenced off to protect the marine resources and the structure becomes the gateway to the North Sea.
As a public facility it is dedicated to the appearance of progress and development.
Whilst there remain fish and chips on the pier, North Sea consumption continues with public consent.
