We are facing the challenge of reconciling comfortable affordable, collective living spaces with ecological responsibility to ultimately achieve a zero-waste architecture for our feature.The project emphasises materials that are reclaimed from the localised existing sources, focusing on timber prefabrication components ultimately to provide an aesthetic, affordable social housing that blends into the rural landscape.Passive design systems are pivotal, focusing on structure orientation for natural light and thoughtful communal/private space arrangements, resulting in cost-efficient cross-ventilation. Materials are chosen for their eco-friendliness, ensuring equitable access to outdoor spaces for all units. The architectural ensemble and the surrounding rural landscape foster a profound connection. Moreover, the significance of a modular unit layout lies in its ability to expand horizontally, accommodating the diverse profiles and evolving needs of different residents. Typologies from single, students, and nuclear families to retired couples, aim to provide an extraordinary connection between groups The exceptional public spaces not only serve as essential amenities for the community but also play a pivotal role in defining the elevated standard of collective housing, an exchange place for residents from different groups.Ultimately, the project strives to provide affordable, high-quality living spaces, catering to residents’ diverse needs.
