The Civic Stage Part 1 Project 2022 Imogen Deane Arts University Bournemouth | UK The Civic Stage sits in the residential area of Boscombe, reviving the existing Shelley Manor and its theatre. This building was reimagined by carving out redundant circulation and offering four distinct masses; the theatre which acts as a core, and three peripheral buildings, the art, research and knowledge blocks. These spaces are bridged using suspended crossings, intending to utilise the public courtyard, and forcing views onto points of theatrical interest. These theatrical spaces express data collected from the wider urban areas of BCP, ploying on existing civic infrastructures to collect real-time data. The Civic Stage acts as an anabolic representation of the city... a micro-city of the macro- city, contributing to the circular culture and society consequently, reviving the previously analysed deprived area of Boscombe as a new cultural core to the district. The building is intended to be a protagonist in social change, masterplanning the peripheral urban grain. Imogen Deane Tutor(s)
