“We shape our buildings, and afterwards our buildings shape us.”
Winston Churchill 1941.
Who are ‘we’ and what have ‘we’ to say?

This project uses film to research the brief.
It explores concepts through models with dynamic qualities.
It communicates ideas through animation.

The outcome is a lighthouse in a storm … an oasis in the desert.

In an inner city district of Glasgow suffering with problems of unemployment, drugs and crime, high intake of immigrants segregated in tower blocks and so on, the programme begins.
The IDEA STORE initiative conceived in Tower Hamlets London, is grafted into Springburn Glasgow.
This project was initially researched through film and finally portrayed exploring filmic devises embedded in surrealist techniques. The building is amoeba like, translucent, with a central cell that is void, another world.
The whole is a catalyst for transformation, yet taps into the Glaswegian wit and spirit and genuinely brings hope without condescension to the citizens.
