Towards a Versatile Architecture Part 1 Project 2020 Alawiya Ali Heriot Watt University - Dubai Campus | UAE The technological revolution throughout history brought a paradigm shift in the way we live, as a new identity is formed from these disruptive technologies; the spatial host must adapt to the new structure of identity. Two buildings have been designed, 1 or 2. The buildings form new identities through the collision of tangible contextual entities and design of a gyroid minimal surface and 3D printing technology. The project programme proposes an Amphitheatre featuring workshops which bring in construction workers as well as the public to learn the disruptive technologies such as 3d printing construction, VR and AR and drones to close the talent gap and articulate easy transition to the new Identity. It also consists of vertical farms which grow food using insects, algae breeding, aquaponics as well as a greenhouse to align the project with a sustainable urban vision. Moreover, the buildings host a social space including retail and restaurants. The project approaches two sides of the Dubai Creek with distinct architectural contexts; Deira and Al-Seef.
