AVAIL: Centre of Islamic Civilization Part 1 Project 2020 Syamimi Harni Zulkifli MARA University of Technology - Perak campus | Malaysia AVAIL is located at the historical city of Kota Laksamana, Malacca which introduces the historical events of the spread of Islamic trading and currencies in Malacca. Since the origins and history of Malacca’s trading system are not well exposed, AVAIL is designed to bring forth a sense of history. Therefore, this building provides the experience of the development of ancient currencies from different eras that contributed alongside Islamic trading in Malacca. With its strategic location, sited next to the Malacca River, this building also implements water elements inside it’s building to create seamless continuity from the river. The main hierarchy is the rain oculus, a dynamic water skylight feature which collects the significant rainwater into the artificial river and to is re-used in the building. Visitors can take their weight off their feet on a boat ride, circling the magnificent steel structure of the rain oculus to their next destination. Syamimi Harni Zulkifli Tutor(s)
