Part 1 Project 2010

The project is about regenerating a block in the center of the city.

Inside this square we found a great green area, to become part of the neighbor.

We created an open park, that also offers in it's intimal underground, spaces for cultural activities.

The hotel is faced to an important Hospital, so it is conceived to host the visitor inside the trees that already exists. Passengers and sunlight translate softly through the folds, creating an special kind of ambient, inside a chaotic neighbor.

This project also conceives flexibility. The structure that goes out of the buildings allows rooms to be different, or to change.
The cultural center has two cinemas and two auditoriums wich can be opened to the exterior.

Every space is projected to flow, and change through time and needs.
Walls becoming roof, or floor becomig wedge, embracing the citizen.

FOLDING TERRITORIES

THIS PROPOSAL IS BASED ON THE CONSTRUCTION OF A TOPOGRAPHIC ORDER CAPABLE OF UNIFYING TWO FUNDAMENTAL ISSUES:

1- THE NEED TO CONNECT THE NEW PROGRAMS WITH THE URBAN STRUCTURE
2- THE NEED TO SOLVE THE CONFLICT BETWEEN PEDESTRIAN TRAFFIC AND EXISTING ROADWAY –STREET STRUCTURE

THE TOPOGRAPHIC STRUCTURE PROPOSAL ACTIVATES THE TERRAIN LEVEL WITH NEW URBAN ACTIVITIES AND LEAVING THE DETERMINATION OF OTHER EVENTUAL USES TO THE FUTURE NEEDS OF THE CITY.
THE SURFACE OF THE GROUNDS FOLDS ONTO ITSELF CREATING THE DIFFERENTIAL CONDITIONS FOR THE PROGRAMS BUT ALSO PROVIDES STRUCTURAL STRENGTH AND DIFFERENT SKYLIGHTS FOR HALLES AND ROOMS
A FUSION OF LANDSCAPE AND ARCHITECTURE,THIS PROJECT AIMS AT BUILDING THE SITE.
BUILDING MATERIALS INCLUDE GLASS, STEEL AND CONCRETE,BUT SIMPLICITY IS THE BASIC INGREDIENT.
ANOTHER INTEREST IN THIS PROPOSAL IS A RE -THINKING OF A HOTEL CONCEPT,SPLITING THE ¨BUILDING ¨ INTO DIFFERENT ¨TREES¨THAT GROW AT RANDOM.
THE THREADED MOVEMENT BETWEEN THE NEW BUILDING WITH THE URBAN CONTEXT IS UNDERSTOOD AS FLUID DINAMISM BASED ON A SENSITIVE RELATIONSHIP TO IT´S CONTEXT.
