d'où venons nous / que sommes nous / où allons nous
Where do we come from? What are we? Where are we going? A small piece of text that was inscribed on a painting by Paul Gauguin is probably the most profound question one can ask. Whilst I do not intend on diving deep into the subject matter, I would like these questions, the latter one in particular to set the scene for my architectural project.
The idea that we may live in a future in which we will create a symbiotic relationship with technology maybe unsettling to begin with, however, If we believe the Darwinian theory of evolution, we evolved from apes; and given the rate at which technology is advancing, it is only matter of time before this becomes reality.
This poses an important question, ‘what is the future of architecture?’
To understand this, we must first understand how we perceive architecture and how this changes in time.
My project not only seeks to question the way we experience architecture but also how these experiences start to reconstruct themselves in the face of a new hyperreal landscape that is starting to embed itself within the fabric of time.
