Borehamwood a town located on the outskirts of London, infamous for its film history and named as the British Hollywood. In recent years, the town has been neglected, resulting in the area becoming one of the most deprived areas within England. As a matter of course education has been affected, resulting in local schools underperforming against the national average. The project is a film school motivated by the legendary Stanley Kubrick’s films and pioneering techniques, it aims to regenerate the deprivation of Borehamwood through learning; socially elevating the area by reviving its almost lost film history.

The project is a unique experience for the user to navigate themselves through the composition of ‘sets’ [rooms] unlocking a new ‘scenes’ [skills] upon entering. A Space Apogee allows the user to comprehend how the formation of ‘scenes’ created in a ‘set’ builds the entire film, to understand that each skill they learn can be further applied. The user is the actor learning and reading the ‘scripts’ [books]. ‘Sets’ have been configured so the actors learn through frames. Integrating workspace and new facilities the ‘sets’ give an interactive learning experience where students gain knowledge to aid the future of the local film industry.
