neighbourHUB

Part 1 Project 2012

In 2003 the Labour government launched a scheme to clear millions of unfit homes and renovate thousands more. Following much criticism the scheme was scrapped in 2010 leaving empty homes and fractured communities. This lead to numerous publications criticising the current top down planning system we see in todays society. With the new digital age upon us such systems no longer reflect the needs of our communities. With this in mind, this project offers an alternative approach to urban planning. Taking influence from simulation games and empowering neighbours through new localism laws it aims to set conditions for natural growth rather than imposing ideals on diverse communities. Therefore the neighbourHUB offers flexible, adaptable spaces within a community facility in which each neighbours time becomes the local currency.
