Floodable Cultural Gulch Part 1 Project 2015 Martín PimentalHugo SobrosaElisa CaneteScarlett Greco University of Chile | Chile After the big fire of Valparaíso, was noted the vulnerability of the territory facing a natural disaster. It is because of the society that this kind of disasters occur, by illegal occupation of the land and the pollution of the gorges with rubbish, hindering the function of natural corridor of risk prevention. Is why the design opportunity and a reorganization of the territory arises by a sustainable way. Today the gulch is disconnected of the Valparaíso’s plan and the hills, with no access, trails or certain facilities that could be part of the society and the territory. Is proposed, the connection of the city by the recognition of the gulches as a articulating system, projecting a metropolitan park. it aims to project a flooded cultural park, recognizing the riverbed like main axis, around which the program socially inclusive is distributed and respecting the flow of the natural corridor using only the hillside. The main program of the proposed building at the beginning of the gulch is a media library and workshops for the society of the hills, currently divided. This project has taught to explore methods of applying knowledge rather than relying on transient technical knowledge to facilitate design.
