The Loop Part 1 Project 2021 Min Yi Ling National University of Singapore | Singapore The Loop features a Research & Development (R&D) facility that innovates on avant-garde methods of clean energy harvesting to tackle the challenges posed by an increasing population worldwide. Through the use of Human-Powered Design, the project finds an opportunity in having people as an indispensable resource in generating clean and sustainable energy. The research hub serves to innovate architectural components that people interact with on a daily basis, such as floors, that aid in the production of clean human powered energy. This allows simple everyday activities such as walking, running and even dancing to contribute to the generation of clean energy. Furthermore, energy generated on the premises can not only be stored or put to use immediately to power different parts of the facility, but also sold back to the state. In the long term, Loop serves as both an artistic and pragmatic solution to help us meet the increasing energy demands of a growing global population in a sustainable and clean manner.
