Part 1 Dissertation 2016

The essay sets out the principles of Modernism and Robert Moses’ work, looking at developments he designed in greater New York and how they impacted on the lives of the inhabitants. It then explores the ways in which the inhabitants responded through the eventual emergence of Hip Hop culture. After examining the formal and social aspects of this culture, the paper then asks, ‘Are architects, today, living in a Hip Hop culture?’
