Learning from the Sub-Cultural. In the current condition whereby clubs and venues are closing far rapidly than ever before. How does the subcultural produce space and find room for new politics? Using the acid-house scene of 1990’s Manchester & Factory Records, the essay links sub-cultural practice, spatial conditions and critiques the spatial manifestation of the Hacienda club to demonstrate a methodology for architects / amateurs.
