Hybridity of Socio-Cultural Systems between Mandvi, India and the Euro-West: A personal exploration through the medium of photography Part 2 Dissertation 2016 Divyani Patel University of East London London | UK This essay is an exploration of interfaces between British and Indian socio-cultures through photographic material from Mandvi, Gujarat. It analyses the duality and hybridity of my identity through local architectural traditions and the way people relate to them. The photograph as medium creates a dialogue between the two distinct cultures and, by analysing a series of personal photographs, I extract interesting dialogues between local vernacular architecture and Western paradigms.
