Part 1 Dissertation 2017

Architectural history is being lost by the demolition of brutalist buildings. The Tricorn Centre, once Portsmouth's iconic brutalist building was demolished in 2004 and now exists only in Portsmouth residents' memories. This study aims to resurrect and preserve the building's ideas and spatial qualities. Readers revisit the building through diagrams and illustrations, to gain an objective understanding of its design, successes and why it failed, situating it within its contexts.
