How Can Public Space Be Designed to Lend Itself to the Agonistic Political Theory?

Part 2 Dissertation 2017

Political theorist Chantal Mouffe declared that her ‘radical and plural conception of
democracy’ can only be realised with critical artistic practices contributing through a
variety of agonistic interventions in a diverse collection of public spaces. Following a
thorough investigation into Mouffe’s agonistic theory, and a critical analysis of the current
trends in public space design, this dissertation aims to deliberate the feasibility of
designing public space allowing agonistic public displays.
