Part 2 Dissertation 2017

Architects design and realise future realities. As such, the majority of their work consists of testing the imaginary. This thesis explores the relationship between reality and fiction, and its implications for architecture, through The Museum of Innocence in Istanbul, by author Orhan Pamuk. It interrogates the translation of ideas between the conceptual world and the physical realm in terms of space-time, of particular relevance to Istanbul’s current political climate.
