The City of (Un)Intended Consequence

Part 2 Dissertation 2018
Christopher Millar
Queen's University Belfast | UK
At the intersection of digital technology and architecture comes a paradox around the promises and potential implications of the smart city. Increased connections to digital systems may offer great benefits, but design facilitating such intrusions of technology could come at the expense of humanity, particularly as plans for smart cities have progressed worryingly unchecked. The law of unintended consequence applies to almost every human endeavour, architecture included.
