Integral Thermal Insulation System Based on Totora Panels to Improve Thermal Comfort in the Homes of Mazocruz- Puno Part 1 Dissertation 2022 Norman Renzo Cabrera Ruiz National University of Engineering | Peru The present research explores technical solutions for the improvement of thermal conditions for housing in Mazocruz and other communities from the Andes that share similar characteristics. The isolation system is primarily made from totora panels, a local vegetal species that grows in the area and could provide an improvement in the thermal conditions of local housing and its habitability in winter seasons. The first part of the study includes the elaboration of scale models of the panel which were tested in order to verify its thermal performance and be compared to other commercial materials with the Fourier Law, verifying the initial hypothesis. As a second stage, with the help of computer softwares such as sketchup, openstudio y energyplus, two housing modules were tested. The first one a traditional construction with commercial materials and the second one with the totora panel improvements. The results of the evaluations show a significant temperature performance, improving the levels of comfort of its inhabitants.
