Testimonials: A Place that Emerges, Grows and Evolves, Leaving Historical Marks Part 2 Dissertation 2024 Valentina Mosos Vargas Pilot University of Colombia Bogota | Colombia Testimonials project aims to rescue the essence of the San Juan de Dios Hospital, with 459 years of history, but which closed its operations 25 years ago. The proposal is proposed under the concept of ""Adaptive Reuse"", which includes the opening of new public spaces, the preservation of the historic medicinal forest, the restoration of 4 buildings and the creation of a monument to testimony. The intervention originates from the testimonial investigation of people linked to the hospital, which serve as a narrative to build a comprehensive and sensitive project. Testimonial memory is considered intangible heritage that adds value and meaning to the architectural heritage, which is why it is proposed as a design means to evoke the history and essence of the old hospital. The Memory Center will be dedicated to studying the past, reflecting on the present and projecting the national architectural heritage into the future. This research opens a debate about heritage in Bogotá and its management, suggesting an intervention that allows heritage to be resilient and evolve with the city, guided by those whot inhabited it and still recognize it as part of their history and tradition.
