The Destruction of Architecture: The Forgetfulness of Memory in Architecture Part 2 Dissertation 2024 Anasol Florez Pontifical Xavierian University | Colombia The following degree work presents an analysis consisting of three concepts: architecture, destruction and memory. In the first instance, a brief definition of these three concepts is presented and then an analysis of how these variables are related to each other. In second instance to carry out an investigation of previous approaches of authors architects studious of these aspects and thus in this way to start the different reflections on the object of the work.It is intended to present in these reflections how architecture transcends the purely physical since it involves symbolic and emotional aspects that gives it meaning. These theoretical reflections give way to a hypothesis, where it is postulated that memory transcends the physical destruction of architecture since the memories associated with a place are maintained through symbols even if the architectural object ceases to exist. The methodology used to test this hypothesis is to analyze and investigate a case study in Bogotá where various situations can be evaluated. Based on this case study, it is proposed to end with a simulation that evaluates the validity of the hypothesis posed from the beginning. Finally draw conclusions summarizing all the research and analysis of this degree work. Tutor(s) Gonzalo Correal
