Peripherial areas in Latin-American large cities faces nowadays social problems regarding their public space and their living conditions. This final dissertation places the focus on “Las Mercedes”, an area located in the borough of Puente Alto, Chile. Hereinafter, I will illustrate the challanges that this project envisages: a neighbourhood in the largest borough in Chile, its tube station and public space condition, to provide an understanding and a solution to the social issues we are now facing. Through this Final Dissertation, my intention is to provide an innovative solution for a public space, combining and re-configurating a tube station area with the nearest car parking, to help proving equipment and public space in a borough that also faces an exponential growth. Thus. The architectural proposal seeks to give a new perspective to what are happening today at the current tube stations in Santiago. For this purpose, new spaces are formulated to accommodate different types of social expressions and social organization, using available infrastructure for mobility to develop a collective equipment. It begins by analysing the evidence collected at the regional level, where I can place the focus on those peripheral áreas problems, in particular, the borough of Puente Alto.
