Landhaus: Walking the Landscape as Design Practice Part 2 Project 2017 Tom Hewitt Northumbria University Newcastle | UK The thesis investigates what it means to design a Landhaus, where “building and land enter into a ceaseless and reciprocally conditional dialogue.” Rather than a site, I explored a territory loosely structured by the Newcastle-Morpeth railway. Through extensive walked enquiry, I gained a deep understanding of this working landscape and its latent infrastructures. This deep topography approach translated into architecture which reinforces layered histories and closely responds to its landscape. Tom Hewitt Tutor(s) Shaun Young
