Architect.ai Part 2 Project 2022 William Garner Loughborough University | UK It is no secret that design is complex yet humans operate with limited bandwidth. It often takes a considerable amount of energy to generate and translate ideas; a process that can be exhausting, and paired with tight deadlines and tighter regulation can force designers into a time-constrained, risk-reduction creative strategy that can impact a project’s true potential. The traditional approach to generating a wealth of ideas in the conceptual phase has been to adopt a brute force system where designers work long hours in order to create enough options to satisfy their professional curiosity and the clients they work with. Unfortunately, this method cultivates unsustainable practices that devalues the designer’s time and effort and often leads to stress and burnout. Furthermore, all humans have a subconscious internal bias when making decisions which can result in tunnel vision, potentially resulting in a whole set of unexplored ideas. But…What if we had the ability to instantly build on designer intuition and imagination with a more diverse idea set? Would it improve productivity?…unlock new typologies? produce more interesting realities? This project uses the context of 9 appropriated competition briefs to experiment and explore Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a creative design collaborator. William Garner Tutor(s) Robert Schmidt III
