Mind Oasis - The Starry Sky Above Me Part 1 Project 2020 Wenxi Wang Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University | China Mind Oasis is a tourist facility built on the Portuguese plain. Its concept is to build a soul purification machine in a place far away from the urban context, by taking natural scenery, especially astronomical scenery (starry sky, sunrise, sunset) into the architecture, combined with technology, to reawaken people’s attention to natural beauty around and to feel it from a new perspective, so as to create a place where people’s spirit can temporarily stop, reflect, and recharge. Philosophical theory for example the phenomenology of architecture, the collective unconscious and the semiotic are used as design strategies. The Mind Oasis will continue and reinterpret the astronomical and humanistic significance of Aldeia da Mata dolmen on the site, create a modern stone monument, and combine nature, starry sky with architecture and technology through different journeys and spaces design to make people rethink about the relationship between the inner soul and nature and the universe, and regain the peace and power of the soul.
