Interpretation Center Judges of Water Part 1 Project 2024 Keler Hinostroza Ataulluco National University of Engineering | Peru Located in the department of Ancash, in the province of Corongo, the Interpretation Center Judges of Water project seeks to highlight the importance of water in the history and culture of this region. Corongo is known for its water reserves and traditional water management systems, which are fundamental to local life and agriculture.The Corongo River has shaped the landscape and life of the district, leadingto the creation of two main reservoirs: Pariacana and El Mirador, managed by water judges who oversee distribution and community festivities, maintaining a centuries-old tradition. This system has enabled Corongo to be self-sufficient in the production of crops such ascorn,potatoes, and wheat, although it currently faces challenges from the influx of external products.The Interpretation Center Judges of Water is located in a privileged position, integrating its structure with the natural geometry of the area. The architectural design includes 23 pillars forming an orthogonal fabric, with open spaces allowing for continuous movement and a direct connection to the cultivation areas. Reinforced concrete vaults and three-dimensional arches create unique corridors, while rainwater is collected and distributed through a central oculus, contributing to the sustainability of the project.This center will not only be a space for reflection on the relationship with water but also an educational and agricultural technology center, strengthening the identity and culture of Corongo while promoting self-sufficiency and sustainability.
