Museum of Water Part 1 Project 2022 Ricardo Rodrigues Sheffield Hallam University | UK The project scope was set by the parameters that hindered the usability of public space around the site. These were the lack of placemaking, absence of practical water body connections, and the non-existence of soft landscape. Structured analyses of familiar patterns of the existing harbour edges through Bristol provided the basis for implementing strategies that effectively enhance the experience of physical interactions in and around the harbour. The permanent exhibits throughout the museum become an extension of representing water as a hierarchy element in our ecosystem through interactive experiences. The various experiences and touchpoints aim to initiate personal reflection on water conservation and contribute to positive behavioral changes. Taking into consideration the unwritten program of local pedestrian movement in and around the area, centralised hubs and human highways allow organised spaces and circulation to work coactively. The design character of the museum is reminiscent to the style of the Byzantine Architecture distinctive to Bristol. To apply a contemporary approach to this iconic style arches form the wrapping façade. Perforating the façade created a visceral appearance to passing public which triggers an initial emotional experience before entering the museum. Ricardo Rodrigues Tutor(s)
