Millwall Dock Theatre Part 2 Project 2024 William Fullick University of East London London | UK A community focused theatre located on the waterfront of Millwall Dock, within the Isle of Dogs in London. Building on the ideal principles of City Farm, this project responds by creating a mix of public and semi-public spaces that contribute to the greater community and social capital within the Isle of Dogs. Millwall Dock Theatre acts as a new entertainment centre for the rapidly increasing population of Tower Hamlets, whilst also acting as a new Performing Arts teaching space for local schools that lack resources. The project acts as a biodiverse landscape to Mudchute City Farm, providing new connections between the sites and habitats for the local wildlife. By renaturating the water and allowing full public access to the rooftop, this generates an unbroken string of ‘City Farm’. Taking materials from the nearby ASDA Crossharbour redevelopment, the project transforms what would be waste into usable social spaces, it sets an example on more extreme sustainability and circular economy.
