The Garden of Earthly Delights 2.0 Part 1 Project 2025 Mohamed AdelAhmed Ashraf Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport - Smart Village Campus Cairo | Egypt Imagine a city where food is at the center of everything, not just something to eat, but something to grow, prepare, and share. A mechanical system of levers, ropes and pipes move produce between floors, while horizontal conveyors pass ingredients between spaces. The entire city functions as a living food network. At its heart lies an extended communal dining table able to expand to welcome people from all walks of life to come together and share a meal. In this city, food is the foundation of community, connection, and daily life. This vision takes inspiration from the festive rituals of eating and sharing of Maidat Al- Rahman "Table of the Merciful" symbolizing kindness and generosity. An efficient, community-driven economy built on adaptability and shared roles in food production, transforms the city into a narration of food, community, and connection. The project explores the complexity of experiencing and integrating food into the architecture of the city to promote sustainable communities. Kitchens, storage areas, preparation zones, and even dining surfaces are not an isolated functions but an interconnected components that interact spatially. This project tells a story about how food shapes daily life within the built environment.
