The Centre for the Understanding of the Environment is a collection of projects that demonstrate sustainable interactions among people, nature and technology.
This ecological centre offers ideas and information on environmentally sound technologies, and its ‘live exhibits’ inspire all generations to follow sustainable ways of life.

The building cracks open the earth revealing the heart of nature.
The biomes are clad in flowers to express the harmony and beauty created in nature. The building aims to extend nature and open up a space of habitation within it, blurring boundaries between inside and outside. To merge with Earth.

PART OF A PARK PROPOSAL ON THE PERIMETER OF LIVERPOOL, THE PROJECT IS LOCATED ON A SITE WHERE THE GEOLOGY IS LIMITED TO SAND AND GRASS, ONCE PART OF A HUGE LANCASHIRE LAKE, LONG RECEDED. THE PROJECT METAPHORICALLY RECONSTITUTES THE GEOLOGY, AS IF BY NATURAL METAMORPHIC ACTION, AND WHAT RESULTS IS AN INHABITABLE GORGE. RATHER THAN PASS BY THE LIMITED INTEREST OF SAND AND GRASS, PEOPLE NOW ENGAGE THE PLACE, IMAGINATIONS ALERT
