Blending Care and Nature: Pediatric Health Center Part 1 Project 2024 Mateo Pérez Pontifical Xavierian University | Colombia The wetlands of Bogotá have lost much of their significance over the years, particularly in their social, recreational, and educational roles for the surrounding communities. Despite being among the largest bodies of water in the city and directly influencing water management, they are also some of the most polluted natural areas.Urban facilities, such as public buildings, can play a crucial role in the recovery and restructuring of wetlands and their integration with the city. Arteaga, Guzmán, and Mayorga (2019) state that "collective facilities have been defined as spaces and constructions for public use... they are attributed functions of structuring and organizing the urban fabric, as they constitute the most suitable settings for developing social interaction activities" (1). What would happen if the Juan Amarillo wetland in Suba became a connector between the city's environmental system and healthcare system?A health center focused on children in the Suba Rincón sector of Bogotá addresses the area's shortage of healthcare services. This center creates a connection and a new relationship between the environmental system, represented by the wetland, and the urban morphology of the area.
