Co-Living Liberated Part 2 Project 2024 Bayley Siddall Sheffield Hallam University | UK My proposal involves retrofitting four existing buildings to create inclusive spaces for people of all sexual orientations and genders to explore non- monogamous relationships. Although the project is designed for a specific demographic, it welcomes a diverse range of individuals. The overarching aim is to reduce societal stigma through immersion, providing an opportunity for those who might not typically visit queer venues to socialize with people beyond their usual circles.The building design will focus on defining and exploring private spaces, utilizing both traditional and non-traditional spatial techniques to facilitate intimacy. It will be a place without doors, offering cracks in reality for users to slip through as they desire, always promising new and pleasurable experiences.The project serves as a metaphor for the queer experience of 'coming out'—emerging from an existing shell into a bright, new world. It offers the flexibility to reveal oneself to the world as circumstances dictate, with the ability to protect and close off completely or be fully open. This approach emphasizes choice and explores the concept of consent through architecture.Ultimately, the project aims to foster a vibrant community, destigmatize non- monogamy, and create an infrastructure that promotes meaningful connections and new relationships with consent and intention.
