Riverside Visionary Agora: A New School of Architecture Part 1 Project 2023 Kieran Sullivan Anglia Ruskin University | UK What does the future of architectural education look like? What is the best way to teach and inspire the next generation of architects? The Riverside Visionary Agora aims to tackle these questions. In part taking its name from the Greek term for a place of gathering, the project, as well as being a place of education, also strives to benefit the greater community of Chelmsford, becoming a place for all. It features a colonnade that displays both traditional and modern orders of columns to showcase the history, as well as the future, of architecture. Taking into consideration the experience of myself and my peers, a programme was devised that would give students the best opportunity to explore all areas of the industry and encourage collaboration between students. The plan was designed to create a journey, including an elaborate circulation system and several spaces for the exhibition of student's work. The intention is to showcase the success of the students and create open conversations for praise and constructive critique from peers. Ultimately, the R.V.A. is a response to the site and provides all the necessary facilities for a successful architectural education, as well as supporting the community. Kieran Sullivan Tutor(s)
