Part 1 Project 2023

The first time, while arriving at the site, I got the impression of conflict. Passing through Bulevar Vojvoda Misic, I found myself between two massifs: the classically built Senjak, which was developed through many decades and architectural styles, and the almost brutalist Belgrade fair and line of industry, created in one historical moment, from the needs of the working class and as a symbol of the power of the state at that time. The touch of opposites turned the boulevard into something like a front, where everyone stands calmly on their side and observes the "enemy" from a distance.

Contrary to all expectations, the given location stood alone. Although on the very border of two zones, she was not influenced by either, but isolated herself and withdrew into herself. With high walls, it created resistance to the outside and its own micro-ambiance.I decided to nurture the "courage" of the location to stand alone in the project.

One of the first design decisions I made at the location, the creation of a micro-ambiance and isolation from the outside, led to the creation of the concept. As I limited myself in the horizontal plane, I decided to make the layering happen in the vertical first. Traditional arrangement of the block, horizontal division of zones by purpose (housing, public spaces, business, parking,...), I rotated by 90°. With this, I made it possible for all the needs of one tenant to be found in vertical space and the dominant form of communication was transferred from a horizontal to a vertical plan.
