market square Part 2 Project 2005 William Hoare University of Plymouth | UK The brief was to produce a masterplan for a small historic market town, and then focus on part of the masterplan in detail. The proposal deals with transport, housing, sustainable economic and physical growth and zero energy importation at a town scale, and then zeros in on the heart of the town, the old market square. A pedestrian avenue is created joining the historic centre of the town with the more recent growth areas; in the middle of this is a new zero energy town hall, acting as multi-functional performance space, gallery, meeting place and heart to the community.
