Emsworth Outdoor Activity Center Part 1 Project 2007 Ricardo Marques University of Portsmouth | UK The outdoor activity center was formed as a direct response to the unsuitability of the existing building inhabiting the site which solely provided sailing facilities. The new brief required teaching areas including enhanced changing and storage spaces to cater for a range of water sports. Incorporated into the heart of the scheme is the notion to enhance and preserve the site's neglected promenade and also re-animate the surrounding environment. The scheme developed from a process of conceptual modelling, incorporating the idea of routes convening to form a nodal point. The point is bridged over by the building in the aim of ‘stitching the site together’ providing a new integrated social environment that enables greater public interaction. Ricardo Marques
