Wellness Beach Retreat in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE Part 2 Project 2024 Mukaram Aerabe Ajman University Ajman | UAE The proposed design is for a wellness beach retreat located in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, featuring a multistorey hotel, chalets, and outdoor yoga pavilions. Inspired by the shape of an oyster and its pearl, the design symbolizes a seamless blend of sea, shore, and shell. The resort is intentionally divided into public and private sections, offering different views and rehabilitation amenities. These include seaside-facing restaurants, cafeterias, ground-level pools, and a rooftop swimming pool. The building façade mimics the ridges and curves of seashells, integrating seamlessly with the natural surroundings of waves and shore stones. Each architectural element, while distinct, is interconnected like a puzzle, respecting minimal contemporary design principles and challenging static architecture. The frame structure utilizes reinforced concrete elements such as beams and columns to evenly distribute building loads and ensure stability. The external facade incorporates insulated white panels. The material provides good thermal insulation, reducing the need for heating and cooling, thereby saving energy and lowering greenhouse gas emissions. The white colour reduces the albedo effect positively influencing the heat island. Additionally, the building features a curtain wall glass integrated with photovoltaic (PV) technology, allowing it to generate clean electricity while maintaining transparency and aesthetic appeal.
