Transportation in San Diego is mainly dependent on fossil fueled automobiles. With 95 percent of automobile users, it's apparent that owning a car is almost a requirement to live in the city, due to infrastructure that prioritizes private cars over more sustainable alternatives like public transit. In turn, fossil fueled cars are generating tons of emissions every year and accelerating the pace of climate change. Thus, a shift to sustainable mobility is needed. A new transportation typology is proposed to catalyze the shift to sustainable mobility through providing sustainable mobility choices represented by the hyperloop for passengers and cars, electric bus station, while providing a new location for the Oldtown Amtrak and trolley station.

Additionally, The Midway Central Mobility Hub explores the merging of two typologies, the transit station and the museum typology to educate people about climate change and send a message about sustainable mobility through the use of light, spatial organization and materiality.
