The Edge Part 1 Project 2024 Lucas Talbot University of Lincoln Lincoln | UK The Edge is a new multi-use building designed to house the Age UK regional headquarters.In addition to offices for Age UK staff, the building features charity shops, a café to generate revenue for Age UK, and accommodation for several elderly individuals including a private lounge and rooftop garden. One entire floor dedicated to improving mental and physical health. The building’s design incorporates a high level of visual complexity to stimulate the mind, making it beneficial for individuals suffering from Alzheimer’s and dementia. Gradual elevation changes encourage mobility and physical health, while alternative routes are provided for those with limited mobility. Connecting with nature, the building includes water features and planted areas throughout. These elements provide cooling in the summer months and create a pleasant background noise to mask the nearby roads and train lines. Overall, The Edge serves as a new hub supporting the local area.
