The Nomadland Part 2 Project 2022 Lingxi TaoQirui WangLuo ZhangSiqi Guo Manchester School of Architecture Manchester | UK The Nomadland is an imaginary and ephemeral installation aimed at reflecting the desire to escape from, and assimilated to, the city. As a speculative device, The Nomadland examines the complex social and political conflicts exposed by the future mass development of the North Sea. It aims to reveal the characteristics of modern nomads and their plight in a constrained system.Through the spatial construction and ethical narrative, the project means to create an imaginary world that questions the alienation of capitalism and technology dependency in a broader context.We combined objective speculation and subjective experience into an imaginary place in the North Sea. We used a set of graphic novels to deliver this enchanting story which unveils a nomadic lifestyle and to design an absurd stage which reflects technological dependency.The Nomadland and the way it is illustrated might be unrealistic and dreamy, but the conflict it tries to indicate is real, in the context of a globalized economy and transient, high-speed networked systems.
