With Camden Town’s markets becoming a ‘grim parody of their own selves’ and becoming a ‘museum’, the arts culture scene of Camden is still holding onto what it was in the 80s.

In the attempt to revitalise Camden’s arts culture scene, this speculative project seeks to blur the lines between work and living showcasing the effect and power of the subconscious mind within a designer’s life, which is always present.

Through researching the role of the subconscious mind of a designer, it can be found that a designer enters an incubation period within the creative process. In this stage the subconscious mind is the most powerful, it can be said the mind ‘wanders’ in this stage to solve problems that were unachievable in a conscious state.

Therefore, this project speculates an environment designers live and work in replicating the state of their subconscious mind which is always active. In turn this building will bring new designers into Camden to produce original work to revitalise that which has been lost.
