Urban Banquets of Care Part 2 Project 2024 Reem Taha Hajj Ahmad Bartlett School of Architecture (UCL) | UK Urban Banquets of Care re-imagines urban living as a utopia; sustainable and caring, with interconnected communities. This project paves the way for a future where urban neighbourhoods prioritise mutual support, environmental care, and a high quality of life for all residents. The overall purpose of this project is to bridge intergenerational gaps in cities, investing more into caring architecture where residents of all ages can experience and celebrate everyday rites of passage that are often overlooked in fast-paced lifestyles. This housing estate is comprised of caring homes, communal kitchens, and laundry tower, nestled into a landscape. The homes are adaptable, enabling different lifestyles to coexist, providing individual freedom within a collective community. The kitchens are designed according to accessible standards for various abilities. The laundry tower enhances natural surveillance, providing extra safety, and celebrates the washing of fresh fabrics. The landscape links these facilities, bringing people together and offering opportunities for self-sufficiency. The overall architecture is embraced with cosy envelopes made of clay, timber, thatch, and fabrics. Tutor(s) Izaskun Chinchilla Moreno Daniel Ovalle Costal
