The Carpentry Vocational Training Center in Moratuwa, Sri Lanka is designed to modernize the traditional carpentry industry. The center aims to bridge the gap between conventional methods and modern technologies. This includes spaces that foster innovation, collaboration, and community engagement. Carpenters in Moratuwa are not effectively utilizing their skills due to their heavy reliance on traditional carpentry, lack of integration of advanced technologies, and high rates of school dropouts at young ages.

The design addresses the need to modernize the carpentry industry and provide accessible education to young adults through the Carpentry Vocational Training Center. The center combines functional workshop spaces with innovative learning spaces to bridge traditional carpentry with modern techniques. It also includes interactive areas to encourage community engagement and continuous learning. The layout promotes seamless interaction between theory and practice, creating a dynamic environment that nurtures skills development and industry innovation. This design not only supports the educational needs of students but also revitalizes the local carpentry trade. The Carpentry Vocational Training Center will bridge the gap in Sri Lanka's carpentry industry by combining traditional practices with modern technology. It equips young carpenters with advanced skills and knowledge and revitalizes the industry through innovative practices.
