The Future We Make

Part 1 Project 2025

In the shift from citizen to consumer, our sense of purpose has narrowed. Public life, once rooted in dialogue and shared rituals, has been replaced by transaction. Spaces once designed for gathering now sell us things. As Guy Debord warns, the spectacle is ‘the opposite of dialogue’, and we have learned to accept this silence.

But what if architecture could give voice back to the citizen? This project reclaims space for participation, resisting the logic that reduces people to data points and cities to malls. It invites engagement, creation, repair; not as novelty, but as necessity. It aims to restore meaning to the act of making and reconnect us to the value embedded in the things we use.
