Landscape Devices: A tourism system for territorial appreciation

Part 2 Project 2025

In response to the lack of tourism infrastructure and public space, which limits visitors’ ability to remain in the municipality, this project is conceived as a series of modular devices that reveal and frame the landscape. Through three key nodes the Site Museum, the Station, and the observatory, the route between the urban centre and the páramo is activated, strengthening both tourism connectivity and the visitor’s relationship with the territory. The proposal introduces a lightweight and adaptable architecture that responds sensitively to the páramo ecosystem and the cloud forest.

The project is guided by two key principles: modularity and contextual adaptability. A 6 × 6 metre structural base enables the configuration of devices that can be rotated, stacked, or repositioned according to desired viewpoints, with landscape framing as the essential rule. This strategy supports a lightweight, low-impact architecture that is easy to transport and assemble, and capable of growing or transforming without losing formal coherence.
