With rising political and environmental stability, we need more resilient structures that are able to adapt to the current situation, whether it is a global pandemic, extreme weather events or the short lived ever changing aesthetical trends. The structure needs to adapt to its inhabitants and local geography and not gentrify existing areas. With the Climate crisis, more rural areas will become less habitable and more dangerous to live in, pushing more people to move to cities.

Los Angeles' population is expected to reach around 26 million (metropolitan area) by 2070 and I believe that Los Angeles will densify in the coming fifty years, creating smaller sub centres of high density within the vast area that is Metropolitan Los Angeles.

I am imagining these habitats developing a consciousness to be able to adapt more rapidly in a way that is uncertain. A structure managed by AI. Creating based on the data it consumes. Expanding and contracting whether it is needed or not. Occupying the spaces left out under, over or in between. Each structure is completely self- sustainable with its own automated factories and distribution system, allowing it to produce parts to grow or repurpose other parts to contract or change.
