Nirvana and Rebirth: About Sublime, a Journey of Self-redemption Instructed by Art Part 1 Project 2022 Zihan Xu Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University | China In the post-modern society covered by the Internet, we inevitably participate in a world woven by media. Mobile phones, books, TVs, and other windows that can communicate with the outside world will be used for information exchange and value instillation. The media try to tell us they are the truth, however, the reality is no different than the allegory of the cave described by Plato. The media society is like a Matrix, controlling our feeling and thought. In such a virtual world dominated by media, people are deprived of the ability to think for themselves, and thus lose the power to define life, define success, and define the future.Art, as a special form of media, is formless and powerful. It can be an experience, a journey, a memory. Art can be shapeless and can talk to people through interaction and movement. Art can be co-authored with nature and link the people to the environment. In this project, I hope to create an artistic journey for self-redemption through art, architecture, and nature to help people recognize the essence of media. To let people discover themselves under the influence of art, and eventually, achieve the sublime realm of oneself. Tutor(s) Juan Carlos Dall'Asta
